Washington State Department of Health

Encouraging behavior change without pointing the finger at people is a tough balance. It’s the tightrope the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) walks every day. Since 2002 DHC has teamed with DOH to arm Washingtonians with knowledge to make healthy decisions about childhood immunization, West Nile virus, chronic diseases and more. We’ve helped DOH balance just enough research with catchy creative to get people’s attention.
We’ve launched DOH in the social media world and created and adapted campaign collateral for parents, health care providers, care givers, elected officials, local health jurisdictions, and employers. Right now we’re helping re-brand the state’s system that tracks immunizations and gives parents and health care professionals immunization-related tools.

It’s not uncommon for DHC to more than double DOH’s campaign budget through media buy matches we negotiate, and that’s a big deal when resources are tight! Most recently we’ve helped get the word out about the importance of the Tdap booster for teens and adults because a Pertussis (whooping cough) epidemic is plaguing our state through a multi-medium buy. Changing behavior doesn’t happen overnight, but we know our campaigns contribute positively to the health-related choices people make every day.
