DHC was honored to assist the YWCA of Spokane plan for and market "A Conversation with the Queen: A Night of Triumph with Queen Latifah," in which this member of Hollywood royalty would appear for a one-of-a-kind show in Spokane to speak about the inspiring stories from her own life. All proceeds from the event would go to the YWCA.
In a sad turn of events, after over half a year of planning and marketing efforts for what was intended to be a hallmark fundraiser for the YWCA, Latifah was forced to cancel the day before the show because of a grave illness within the family.
While the cancellation of a fundraiser of this size and scope would be devastating for many organizations, the YWCA has shown their incredible resiliency and grace as they moved forward.
Though all tickets were refunded, the YWCA saw a massive spike in donations the day of the event and was flooded with community support. The YWCA continued on with its "Let Your Crown Shine" event for YWCA clients, giving a day of pampering at Northern Quest Resort & Casino to women who might not otherwise have the opportunity.
DHC is as proud as ever to have worked with the Spokane Public Facilities District, the YWCA and all the event sponsors. As the women the YWCA serves work to overcome the hurdles in their lives, so to has the YWCA in overcoming this challenge to emerge successful.
