When our founder, Jim Desautel first conjured up the idea for our company - on a bar napkin at Priest Lake - he had a few key ideas in mind.

First, he wanted to build a firm of public relations zealots. What is a zealot? Jim says a zealot is an individual who goes the extra mile and has a high degree of commitment, accountability and passion.

At Desautel Hege Communications, we're interested in rolling up our sleeves and getting to know you.  What does your organization do?  What challenge or obstacles can we tackle together?  Whether you need us to take the lead, stand by your side or work invisibly behind the scenes, the results we help you achieve are always professional and always distinctive.  We want to understand the fabric of your business and help you exceed your own expectations. And that's the only way we'll have it.

Jim succeeded. He organized a team of hard-working strategic thinkers who apply integrity, creativity, talent and most importantly place an emphasis on providing each and every client with the trust and individual attention they deserve. Our services, both in the office and within our community, certainly make an impression.

You've likely seen us out and about supporting a number of causes for which we are passionate.

  • We serve on boards and committees for a number of organizations, including: Public Relations Society of America (Spokane Chapter), Spokane MarCom, Gonzaga University's Hogan Entrepreneurial Leadership Program, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Allegro Baroque & Beyond, Armed Service Committee, Chamber Health Care Committee, Camp Fun in the Sun, Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture, Gonzaga University School of Professional Studies Advisory Board, Emerging Professionals, Spokefest, Operation Spokane Heroes, and the Spokane Society of Young Professionals.

  • We teach public relations, communications and marketing at the university undergraduate and graduate levels, mentoring future and entry-level practitioners. We also provide job shadow and internship opportunities for students from area universities.

  • We teach, design online curriculum and oversee the examination procedures for the Accreditation process (APR) for Public Relations Society of America for more than 20 years.
